Outlaws Fall to Firebirds in Albany — Redemption Awaits in Billings

Reigning Champs Suffer Tough Road Loss but Set Sights on Home Opener Rematch

In a game billed as a fiery championship rematch, it was the Albany Firebirds who came out with something to prove — and they proved it. On April 13th in Albany, NY, the Billings Outlaws fell 24-62 in a tough road matchup, as the Firebirds delivered a dominant performance in front of their home crowd.

The Outlaws came into the game as reigning champions, having defeated Albany not once but twice last season — including the unforgettable 2024 championship win in New Jersey. But on this day, it was Albany who flipped the script.

We talked big.

They played bigger.

From the opening whistle, the Firebirds were firing on all cylinders, while the Outlaws struggled to find their rhythm. Despite moments of promise, Billings couldn’t gain the traction needed to mount a response. The offense never found its groove, and the defense had no answer for Albany’s relentless pace.

“We couldn’t find our footing out there,” said Head Coach Cedric Walker. “Props to Albany — they came ready, and we didn’t match the energy. But we’ll be ready next week.”

That next week comes fast — and with it, a chance at redemption.

The rematch is already locked in as the Outlaws return to Billings for their Home Opener on Saturday, April 20th at 4:00 PM. The team will face the Firebirds once again on TDS Fiber Field at MetraPark, and fans can expect a fired-up response from the defending champs.

The game will be streamed live on Vice TV, and fans are encouraged to pack the stands to give the squad a true home-field advantage.
